Room 3 is a Year 3 and 4 composite class ranging from 6-8 years of age. We are a busy class with a focus on supporting each-other, encouraging discussion, collaborating and striving to be the best learners we can be. One of our most important goals is to challenge ourselves to risk take with both our learning and our life skills. Our motto is to ‘have a go’ so we can build on our learning, develop our independence and be proud of our efforts.
We spend some time, put a lot of thought into, and work together to develop our ‘Class Code of Conduct.’ We work just as hard to follow it while on our learning journey; focusing on being kind and looking after others and our environment – He waka eke noa, ‘We are all in this together’.
We are lucky to have a number of digital technology devices to help us create and support our learning. We are using Google Docs and Seesaw to design, produce, record, and share our learning with each-other and our whanau. We have a class website that promotes and supports new and inquiry learning and we enjoy Tech Time, in terms 2 and 3, where we get to explore a variety of STEM challenges and technologies.
Every week we visit the library, practice kapa haka with Matua Horrace, enjoy sharing assemblies and participate in tuakana/teina fitness. Some of us are gardeners and help Jeannie in the garden or kitchen and some of us care for our school chickens.
Each day we develop our literacy and numeracy skills within a range of contexts, incorporating our inquiry learning wherever possible. We love going on trips and having hands on experiences whenever we can!
